Help! I Could Use Your Advice as I Wade into Year B

Here’s the truth. Outside of forays into Advent and Lent, I am rather unfamiliar with preaching from the lectionary. And yet, I feel an inexplicable draw to wade into these waters. Beginning with Baptism of the Lord Sunday, in early January.

So, my reading friends and fellow preachers, I could use your help. Please, let me know what your go-to resources are for preaching Year B. In my context I prepare the order of worship and preach weekly. Yes, I’m plunging into the deep end. Gladly.

What I’ve gathered up so far ~ Feasting on the Gospels: Mark, Feasting on the Word Worship Companion Year B, Connections: A Lectionary Commentary for Preaching and Worship Year B volume 1, A Preacher’s Guide to Lectionary Sermon Series, and of course I will regularly consult The Book of Common Worship.

Living the Christian Year: Time to Inhabit the Story of God” by Bobby Gross, looks like a helpful resource for introducing the congregation to the church calendar and lectionary.

Your advice is MOST welcome! Please add comments, share books, podcasts, apps, ‘heart’ the post, and share some of the wisdom you have found along the way. Guest posts welcome.

Wonderful readers, thanks in advance for the wisdom share with our community. My debt to you, and my joy interacting with you grows, this post and always, Shari
