New Year 2020 News from Shari
Hello Friends!
I know it’s been ages since you’ve heard from me about the goings on at Interim By Design. Sorry about that. Here’s a glimpse of what I’ve been up to and what’s ahead.
Let’s catch up on a few things…
Since my last e-newsletter I’ve begun a couple of new ventures and taken an epic journey. In August of 2018 I began serving as interim senior pastor at John Knox Presbyterian Church in Normandy Park, WA where it has been my joy to lead a rather delightful season of transitional ministry. My time here is sure to be wrapping up soon. During the summer of 2017 I began the Doctorate in Ministry (DMin) at Seattle University. Last month I had the joy of traveling to Thailand with my daughter Madeline. We went to honor Allan and Joan Eubank as they celebrate 60 years of marriage and 58 years of ministry in Thailand, to participate in the annual board meeting of the Thai Christian Foundation and to meet jointly with the Pan Rak Foundation. We also furthered our collaboration with Thai Village on several projects, and supported the book launch of “Born Free and Equal”. To learn more visit my Facebook page.
Let’s connect in 2020
In 2019 my book list included a book that was made into a movie, Bryan Stevenson’s Just Mercy. Recently Craig and I saw “Just Mercy” the movie with friends Doug and Sharon. I highly recommend seeing the movie, reading the book, and talking about it with your people.
Next month we are making plans to see the Free Burma Rangers movie about the remarkable ministry of Dave and Karen Eubank and their family. Let me know if you’d like to join us in Tacoma for this movie on February 24 or 25. Or see it in your city. Either way, let’s be sure we’re always talking about and sharing good books and movies (and other good things) with one another.
Currently @John Knox we are looking into the Gospel of Mark in a series called “Go to Galilee”. I’m preaching next on Sunday February 9th. Services are at 8:30 and 10:30 am. Also, Sunday February 16th I will be sharing at Knox about my recent trip to Thailand between services. Join us!
In March the research phase of my DMin program brings me to the acclaimed Transitional Ministry Training @Menucha March 16-19. If you’re interested in learning about what I do vocationally and why I choose to do so ~ join me here. If you attend, let’s set up time for a conversation. In closing, it is my sincere wish that you abound in hope in this new year. And, if in God’s goodness we find that our paths cross in person or on-line, I will be exceedingly glad!
Shalom,
Shari
